Fleet

The First Flotilla is responsible for the operational readiness of the frigates and integration of the RSN's manned sea-air operations to dominate across all dimensions of naval warfare – air, surface and underwater. The flotilla also works closely with 123 Squadron to build the capabilities of its organic naval helicopter.

The Third Flotilla supports a wide variety of SAF operations such as sea transportation or logistics support for maritime security operations, humanitarian assistance and disaster relief missions, peace support operations or training deployments. The flotilla does this by harnessing the capabilities of its landing ships tank, fast craft and civil resource vessels.

The Seventh Flotilla is responsible to build a strong submarine force to safeguard Singapore's access to the sea lines of communication.

The Eighth Flotilla ensures that Singapore's sea lines of communication remain open. In addition to maintaining the operational readiness of the missile corvettes, the flotilla also undertakes the integration the RSN's unmanned sea-air operations.

Maritime Security (MARSEC) Command

The Second Flotilla forms the vanguard to safeguard Singapore's waters and ensure that our sea lines of communication remain open. The littoral mission vessels in the flotilla are deployed to respond to maritime security threats and other maritime incidents.

The Sixth Flotilla is responsible for mine countermeasure in the RSN, and leads the development of unmanned capabilities for surface and underwater craft in the Singapore Armed Forces. This includes the unmanned surface vessels for mine countermeasure and maritime security.

A strong seaward and landward defence of the naval bases and installations is also an important component in maritime security. The Ninth Flotilla is responsible for training and deployment of security troopers, sea soldiers and system operators for defence of our naval bases and coastal installations.

Maritime Training and Doctrine Command (MTDC)

The Naval Military Experts Institute (NMI) is the spiritual home of our naval military experts and engineers, who are trained in seven specialised schools within NMI. The institute builds a strong core of naval military experts and engineers, who possess deep domain expertise that is anchored in values and clear on purpose.

The Maritime Warfare and Doctrine Institute (MWI) is responsible for the warfare and navigation training for the RSN, and the management of RSN tactical doctrines. Specifically, MWI overseas warfare training and evaluation across all naval warfare spectrums from Task Force down to the individual level, and leads Action Watchkeeping and Navigation training for Naval Officers.

Naval Engineering and Logistics Command (NELCOM)

The Force Readiness Squadron (FRS) ensures that all RSN's warships and systems are kept at the highest state of readiness. With deep engineering expertise, the FRS teams conduct engineering studies and provide engineering support to rectify defects or system issues at the workshops in RSN naval bases.

The Force Generation Squadron (FGS) plays a vital role to ensure that ships, submarines and maritime civil resources always available. The squadron oversees the planned maintenance programme for RSN ships and submarines, including overhauls and refits as part of depot-level maintenance.

The Force Support Squadron (FSS) is responsible for the logistics sustenance in the RSN – from provision of meals and transport, materiel replenishment, to maintenance of base facilities.

Naval Diving Unit (NDU)

The Special Warfare Group conducts a full-spectrum of ship-boarding operations and maritime counter-terrorism operations.

The Special Boat Group raises, trains and sustains all maritime specialised craft, including the Combatant Craft Large and Combatant Craft Medium, which supports operations such as maritime counter-terrorism operations.

The Clearance Diving Group employs hybrid teams comprising Regulars and Full-Time National Service divers to perform underwater security operations – including search, locate and recovery operations, and maritime explosive ordnance disposal operations to keep Singapore's vital sea lanes safe.

The Underwater Demolition Group conducts underwater clearance operations to remove obstacles. It is a National Service unit manned by Operationally Ready National Servicemen.

The 180 Squadron comprises the Accompanying Sea Security Teams, which conducts compliant ship boarding checks on merchant ships to ensure the safety and security of Singapore's waters.

The Frogman School is responsible for the conduct of all training courses within the formation – which includes Basic Military Training, Combat Diver Course, and other professional diving and ship-boarding courses.

Navy Medical Service (NMS)

The Naval Medical Operations Centre (NMOC) provides operational medical support for the Navy. It includes the development and provision of frontline maritime medical and surgical teams, and training of Independent Duty Corpsmen.

The Naval Underwater Medicine Centre (NUMC) is responsible for development of underwater medicine expertise in the SAF. The NUMC is involved in education and research in Diving and Diving Medicine to maximise combat performance and provide comprehensive operational medical support for our underwater combatants. In addition, the centre also supports emergency hyperbaric services in the Hyperbaric and Diving Medicine Centre at the Singapore General Hospital.

The Medical Doctrine and Training Branch (MDTB) conducts medical training for RSN personnel to enhance front-line medical support for the RSN. The MDTB also leverages new and innovative ways of medical training, such as use of realistic cut-suits and simulator training.

The Naval Healthcare Branch (NHCB) oversees the naval medical centres to provide primary and emergency medical care, and occupational health for the RSN. The NHCB also ensures health protection in the RSN through occupational health programmes and annual vaccination programmes, and enhances combat performance through mental resilience and fatigue management programmes.
