Stronger Cooperation Out at Sea

Our Formidable-class frigate RSS Steadfast just completed a successful passage exercise (PASSEX) with the U.S. Navy's Independence-class USS Gabrielle Giffords in the southern reaches of the South China Sea within international waters from 24 to 25 May. 

Over the two days, the ships conducted a manoeuvring exercise, firings, and communication serials. This was based off plans that were developed via virtual means.

"Engage target with main gun!" Both RSS Steadfast and USS Gabrielle Giffords conducted large-calibre gun firings out at sea.

"LOOK FORWARD TO BRIGHTER DAYS AHEAD AND STRONGER COOPERATION AT SEA." During the flashing exercise (FLASHEX), a communication systems operator uses the signal lantern to send a message in morse code to USS Gabrielle Giffords.
