Professional Engagement with Royal Australian Navy Counterparts At-Sea and Ashore

On 1 Sep 2021, the Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN)'s Formidable-class frigate RSS Stalwart and Victory-class missile corvette RSS Vigour conducted a passage exercise (PASSEX) with the Royal Australian Navy (RAN)’s Canberra-class landing helicopter dock HMAS Canberra and Anzac-class frigate HMAS Anzac. The exercise was also supported by F-15SG fighters and Chinook helicopter from the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF).

Conducted in the international waters in the southern reaches of the South China Sea, the PASSEX saw ships from both navies conducting a series of drills against simulated air threats, deck-landing, communication and manoeuvring drills.

Professional exchanges on unmanned system operations were also held from 30 Aug to 2 Sep 2021, where RSN personnel shared on the operationalisation of unmanned surface vessels for mine countermeasure and maritime security operations. These professional exchanges are part of our long-standing interactions with our RAN counterparts to enhance co-operation and strengthen mutual understanding.
