Undeterred by New Challenges

What does it take to ensure all RSN platforms stay well-maintained and operational ready?

This is the challenge that the team of 55 at the Ship Superintending Engineering Centre (SSEC) undertakes every day. Most recently, the team remained undeterred in the face of new challenges brought about by COVID-19 restrictions, which limited works at the shipyards and forced them to adjust maintenance plans. In recognition of their hard work, the team clinched the Best Naval Engineering and Logistics Unit this year.

Working in tight quarters is part and parcel of the job for the SSEC engineers as they inspect every nook and cranny of the ship to ensure that ship refits are done properly.

Engineers from SSEC were awarded the MINDEF Innovation Project Award for implementing a system for "Unmanned Safety and Security for Ships in Yard".
