Strengthening Cooperation with Malaysia at the Regional Maritime Practitioner Course

The inaugural Regional MARSEC Practitioner Course (RMPC) was held from 28 to 29 Nov 23 at Putrajaya in Malaysia with approximately 35 participants from the Republic of Singapore Navy, Singapore Police Coast Guard and the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency.  

Co-organised by the Republic of Singapore Navy, S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies (RSIS) and the East Asian International Relations Caucus, the RMPC featured lectures and presentations from academia and subject matter experts, as well as a dialogue with senior commanders. Throughout the course, participants shared their views, experiences, and best practices in order to work together to achieve safer seas for all.    

During RMPC, MAJ Joseph Lee, Head Operations at Information Fusion Centre (IFC), also shared how the IFC and its International Liaison Officers work together to facilitate maritime security in the region and beyond.  

On the sidelines of the RMPC, Commander Maritime Security Command RADM Augustine Lim met with Director-General MMEA ADM(M) Datuk Hamid bin Haji Mohd Amin, and the Deputy DG (Log) VADM(M) Datuk Saiful Lizan bin Ibrahim. They exchanged views on MARSEC matters, and explored new ways to boost practical cooperation between both agencies and further strengthen the relationship between the RSN and MMEA.
