What Does it Take to be a Sailor?

Our midshipmen from the 89th MIDS / 25th MDEC1 found out during their Midshipman Sea Training Deployment (MSTD)!

On board the landing ship tank RSS Endurance, they kept watches alongside the ship crew to learn how to keep the ship safe and operational. The midshipmen also exercised their planning skills and took part in various shipboard drills such as small arms firing and firefighting. 

We wish the midshipmen all the best for the next stage of training. Stay true to your batch motto and continue to 'Conquer with Valour'!

Keeping vigilant watch in the Bridge. Midshipmen learnt how to be a part of the Bridge team by closing up in the various roles.

During a shipboard exercise, the helmsman ME1 Ong Kian Boon (pictured second from the left) teaches the midshipmen how to adjust the engines according to the given orders.

"A-Gun, 3 rounds, burst fire, shoot!" Under close supervision, our midshipmen closed up on the gunnery systems to learn what it takes to fire the ship's main gun - the 76mm OTO Melara.
