Last week, our Chief of Navy RADM Sean Wat, and members of the Naval Staff met with their counterparts from the Royal Thai Navy (RTN) in Bangkok, Thailand for a series of exchanges. RADM Wat was in Bangkok for his official visit from 2 to 4 July 2026.

Hosted by the Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Navy, ADM Pairote Fuangchan, the meeting reaffirmed the longstanding and strong relationship between our two navies.

Both chiefs reviewed the slew of activities between our Navies, and discussed further opportunities to strengthen cooperation between the RSN and RTN.

The RSN and RTN interact regularly through our bilateral exercise Exercise Singsiam, and multilateral exercises such as the Singapore-Thailand-India Maritime Exercise (SITMEX). Both navies also engage in regional cooperation through the Malacca Straits Patrol (MSP), professional exchanges and training courses, as well as participation in regional defence forums.
