Chief of Navy Rear Admiral (RADM) Sean Wat in the United States from 7 to 11 July 2026 for a working visit

Our Chief of Navy Rear Admiral (RADM) Sean Wat was in the United States from 7 to 11 July 2026 for a working visit.

During the visit, RADM Wat called on Commander, U.S. Pacific Fleet (COMPACFLT), Admiral (ADM) Stephen Koehler, and met Deputy Commander, U.S. Pacific Fleet and Commander, Combined Task Force (CCTF) RIMPAC 2026, Vice Admiral (VADM) Jeffrey Jablon.

RADM Wat also interacted with the crew of RSS Steadfast and RSN personnel deployed at the Deployable Joint Command and Control (DJC2). He was accompanied by Defence Attaché BG Lim Kok Hong and Head Naval Intelligence COL Tung Wanling.

Both leaders reviewed the slate of interactions between our navies and discussed opportunities to further strengthen cooperation.

As part of his programme, RADM Wat (centre) visited the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt, which is the USN’s lead ship for RIMPAC 2026. He was hosted by Commanding Officer CAPT Will Mathis (right).

RADM Wat also met with Commander Combined Task Force 176 (CTF176) Rear Admiral (RDML) Brent DeVore (left) at the DJC2.

The RSN team is led by Commander 1st Flotilla COL Carlin Song (second row, seventh from left), who is the component commander for the protection of amphibious forces during the exercise.

At the Marine Corps Air Station Kaneohe Bay, RADM Wat was briefed on the capabilities of the P-8A Poseidon Maritime Patrol Aircraft.

With the SAF’s acquisition of the P-8A to strengthen Singapore's anti-submarine warfare and maritime surveillance capabilities, there are also opportunities to enhance cooperation and professional sharing with the USN and other navies operating this aircraft.

On board RSS Steadfast, RADM Wat interacted with the crew and encouraged them to maximise the opportunity during RIMPAC 2026 to hone their naval warfare skills through the conduct of high-end serials such as missile firings.
